The site of the FORD's High Bay Warehouse, is located between the Chequers Corner which is the edge of the Becontree estate (3000 acre) and the A13 Trunk Road. Since the Becontree Estate is the largest of many public housing schemes, and the A13 will take major traffic in future, many people have seen the building as one of the major landmarks along the A13 at Dagenham. However, it is going to be demolished because of the changes in the world market, economics and the needs by users.
Although the building is a landmark for many people, they do not have a good image to it. It feels quite mysterious to the casual passerby without many external indication of what has gone on inside, or why such a huge building was needed. Consequently, the design should be the answer to people's questions. The feature of this building, a simple straightforward structure, would appear differently everyday an every minute with internal light and sunlight. Glass and specially filmed glass on the wall give some hints to the observer about what is going on inside or people is inside. Mirror indicates 'nothing' and disappearing, it implies the demolishing of the building. So, it makes a contrast with the part of the existing wall.
